Balmedie is a large village situated on the coast in the North part of Scotland. This place is inspiring go solo travel destination in every way - it has 50,000 hectares of sand dunes located next to the North sea, some wooden and grassy area. Balmedie also holds several scientific sites of interest including Sands of Forvie beach and defenses from WWII. The beach welcomes everyone including pets. There is free parking, a picnic area and public toilets.
Faskally Woods is located north-west of Pitlochry. It offers a hand of activities for go solo diverse wildlife including kingfishers, mini frogs, red squirrels and incredible habitats. You can walk trails around Dunmore Loch and observe stunning woodlands. It is well known for mixed conifers and broadleaves trees and, in fall season, the leaves go through an exceptional colour transformation. The walking trails can be done in about an hour on dry ground in summer and slightly longer in the rain. Traveling to Faskally Woods is only 5 minutes travel by car from Pitlochry, and has a car park available for £1 for up to an hour.
Traveling to the heart of highland in Grantown on Spey which is located only 40min away from Cairngorm National Park which offers an excellent choice for go solo winter activities such as skiing and or snowboarding 🏂 or if you travel in a summer hill walking. The Grantown on Spey town has a unique habitat and ancient woodlands from Rowan to Willow or Aspen trees which were planted in the 18th Century. There are lots things to do or see depending on your likes, you can hire a bike and explore area on wheels or even visit a local Malt Whisky trail tour, you won't get bored!
It's another great travel go solo destination situated in Scottish Highlands which lies next to River Spey and Cairngorm national Park. Kingussie is a small lively town with a population of around 1500. You can see a scenic countryside while paddling on River Spey or cycle via National Cycle route to Folk Museum which is only 11 min away by bike from Kingussie town.
